Setting the Scene
Elms takes the field, Saturday looking to rebound from a double-header loss to New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) rival Becker College on Tuesday, April 9 in its last outing. The Blazers have now lost three of their last five heading into weekend action. Southern Vermont comes to Chicopee, Mass. looking to build on a double-header split with Bay Path College on April 10 which snapped a three-game losing skid. 

Scouting the Blazers
Elms takes the field led by senior third baseman Rachel Butt (Agawam, Mass.) and sophomore infielder Gianna Gonyea (East Longmeadow, Mass.) who each have a team-high 17 hits. Gonyea leads the team with five doubles and 14 RBI and has a .378 batting average. Junior first baseman Ally Witaszek (Feeding Hills, Mass.) has notched a .381 batting average and has 16 hits.

Scouting the Mountaineers
Southern Vermont enters weekend action looking to build on a 6-4 win over Bay Path, highlighted by a three-run second and three-run third innings. Brianne Nichols (Colonie, N.Y.) was 2 for 3 with three RBI and two runs scored and ignited the victory with a two-run double in the bottom of the third frame. 

Pink Out
Saturday marks a pink-out event for the Elms College softball program. Fans are encouraged to wear pink and donate a minimum of $1 to help support breast cancer awareness.

During each game this season, the Elms softball team will wear a No. 26 decal on its batting helmets in honor of the 26 victims of the Sandy Hook tragedy.
