Men's Volleyball Sweeps NECC Weekly Awards

ATTLEBORO, Mass. – Elms College junior Daniel Bondarovsky (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) and freshman David Hernandez (Springfield, Mass.) were recognized as the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Player of the Week and Rookie of the Week, respectively, in a release from the league office Monday. This is the second time Bondarovsky has claimed Player of the Week honors in his career, while Hernandez collects his first weekly accolade.

Bondarovsky led the Blazers attack in a trio of match, totaling 33 kills, averaging 3.67 per set, with 20 digs, four service aces and three blocks. Bondarovsky racked up 14 kills with seven digs and three aces in a three-set sweep at Emmanuel, followed by an 8-kill, 8-dig performance against MIT. Bondarovsky added 11 kills and five digs in a sweep of John Jay.

Hernandez added to the Blazers attack during a 2-1 week, tallying 23 kills, averaging 2.56 per set, with 13 digs and two assists. Hernandez delivered 11 kills during a three-set sweep at Emmanuel, and then added seven kills and four digs at MIT. Hernandez notched five kills, four digs and two assists in a three-set victory over John Jay.

Bondarovsky, Hernandez, and the rest of the Blazers (8-5, 1-0 NECC) will be back in action with a NECC road trip to Southern Vermont Tuesday night for a 7:00 p.m. match.
