Blazers Break Two School Records At Smith College Pioneer Invitational

NORTHAMPTON, Mass. – Tyana Medina and Don Cianciolo broke school records as the Elms College men's and women's track and field teams turned in impressive performances as the Smith College Pioneer Invitational on Saturday.

Medina finished seventh in the 400m hurdles with a school-record time of 1:33.24. Meanwhile, Cianciolo took third in the 110m hurdles with a school-record time of 18.99, finishing ahead of teammate DeAngelo Cousar who took fourth in 19.79.

Sharon Vielmetti and Keyonna Douglas each set personal records in the 100m and 200m. Douglas finished 17th in the 100m (14.37) and 23rd in the 200m (30.26) while Vielmetti took 27th in the 100m (16.18) and 36th in the 200m (34.77). Sam Wegiel was the top Blazer finisher in the 200m with a time of 29.90.

The Blazer men went 2-3 in the triple jump, as Jon Lester finished second (12.40m) and Greg Metelus took third (12.33m).

Elms will be back in action next Saturday at the Mt. Holyoke College Spring Fling.
