Blazer Track & Field Opens 2018 Season At UNC Wilmington

WILMINGTON, N.C. – The Elms College men's and women's track and field teams opened the 2018 season at the UNC Wilmington Seahawk Invitational on Friday. The meet, which concludes Saturday, features a total of 17 teams.

Sarah Tatgenhorst highlighted the day for the Blazer women when she finished 13th in the 39-runner 800-meter field with a time of 2:30.73. Keara Moulton (2:47.02) finished 32nd, Julia Trezza (2:54.17) finished 34th and Tyana Medina (2:56.79) finished 37th.

Trisha Doret led a trio of Blazer women in the long jump with a 14th-place finish (4.00m). Helena Ward (3.65m) and Sam Wegiel (3.53m) finished 15th and 16, respectively.

Greg Metelus led seven Blazers in the men's 100-meter dash, finishing 39th in 12.01 seconds. Isaiah McKinley-Jones was just behind at 12.08 seconds, followed by Connor Chung (12.18), Keeshaun King (12.24), Pablo De La Guardia (12.66), Kawaune Jackson (12.75) and Adrian Wong (14.20).

King finished ninth and led three Blazer men in the long jump (6.16m). McKinley-Jones finished 10th (6.14m) and Metelus finished 15th (5.88).

After wrapping up the meet tomorrow, the Blazers will return to action at the Wesleyan Collegiate Invitational on March 24.
