Daniel Webster Downs Men's Basketball

NASHUA, N.H. – The Elms College men's basketball suffered an 88-65 to host Daniel Webster in a New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) tilt at Mario Vagge Gymnasium Tuesday night.

Michael Campbell (Mont Vernon, N.Y.) also reached double figures off the bench for the hosts, finishing with 13 points in going 4 of 5 from the field and 4 of 5 at the line. Antwaun Boyd (Stamford, Conn.) posted 10 points with six boards and four assists, while Jared Harrington (Upper Marlboro, Md.) chipped in with eight points and four helpers.

Symon Smith (Oklahoma City, Okla.) led the Blazers with 20 points along with five caroms, three assists and three steals. Conny Ihearahu (Largo, Md.) notched 18 points and seven boards, DeAngelo Cousar (Bowie, Md.) had 13 points, and Trifon Bish (St. Catherine, Jam.), who netted 22 against the Eagles last week, was held to 12.

Daniel Webster visits Wheelock (9-10, 6-4 NECC) Thursday in a NECC tilt at 6:30 p.m. Elms heads to Becker (13-5, 9-0 NECC) for a NECC clash at 7:30 p.m.

DWC's inside work was the story of the game. The Eagles outscored Elms 46-24 in the paint and outrebounded their foes 44-24 with 14 on the offensive glass. DWC shot 47-percent in the opening frame but cooked in the second, hitting on 64-percent (18-28). Elms, which had stayed close thanks to 50-percent shooting in period one, went cold in the second finishing 29-percent.

DWC's bench also dominated, outscoring the visitors, 28-2.

Elms led four times early on but DWC took the lead for good on a Boyd layup with 9:25 to go in the first half. The Eagles lead reached nine before Elms closed the gap to five at the break.

A Campbell three-point play gave DWC a nine-point lead1:30 into the second half that was followed by a Bish trey for a six-point game at the 18:24 mark. But Harrington answered from deep and Marquise Caudill (Windsor) went inside to get the lead to 11, sparking a 20-5 Eagle run that consumed a shade under five minutes ending with a Jaquan Harrison (Windsor) three-point play that made it 68-47 Eagles with 13:15 left.

Elms pulled no closer than 15 the rest of the way as the lead would reach 22 at its largest.
