Plasse Receives NECC Rookie Honors

ATTLEBORO, Mass. – Elms College sophomore Matt Plasse (Westfield, Mass.) has been tabbed as the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Baseball Rookie of the Week, announced by the league office Monday.

Plasse limited NECC leader Mitchell to two runs in six innings of work as the Blazers defeated the Mariners, 7-2. Plasse gave up two runs, one earned, on seven hits with a season-high nine strikeouts in the win. Plasse lowered his ERA to a team-low 3.04 while improving his record to 3-1 on the season. Plasse ranks fifth in the NECC in strikeouts, hurling 27 strikeouts through 32 innings of work.

Plasse and the Blazers will be back on the diamond when they host Springfield College in a non-conference contest Monday at 7:30 p.m.
