Elms Athletics Declared an Official Special Olympics Massachusetts Unified Champion School

Marlborough, MA - The Special Olympics MA has declared Elms College an official Special Olympics Massachusetts Unified Champion School. The Blazer athletic family achieved this by demonstrating their commitment to inclusion.

"We are so honored to have been named a Unified Champion School for the 2019-2020 school year," said Michelle Proulx, associate athletics director, head Women's Basketball coach and SAAC advisor. "Our student-athletes and Student Athlete Advisory Committee have a committed effort to both our sponsorship of community games every year and to our newly developed Young Athletes program. I am so proud of our Athletics community for continuing to foster a socially inclusive school environment on our campus."

Despite the challenges of last spring, the Blazer community showed what it takes to be a Unified Champion, providing opportunities and activities to creating a truly 'Unified Generation' of young people who embrace differences and lead social change. Elms embodies Unified Sports, Inclusive Youth Leadership and Whole School Engagement.

Director of Schools and Youth Engagement at Special Olympics, Patti Doherty added, " thank you to your dedicated teachers, coaches, athletic director, advisors and students who made this possible. We look forward to working with Elms College to forge new paths towards inclusion at all levels within your school."
