Blazers Down Falcons For Eighth Consecutive Win

FITCHBURG, Mass. -- The Elms College women's volleyball team cruised to its eighth consecutive victory on Thursday night, toppling Fitchburg State 25-14, 25-15, 25-17.

The Blazers hit .148 in the contest and held Fitchburg State to a -.011 hitting percentage. Elms improves to 14-3 on the season with the victory while Fitchburg State drops to 2-16 after the non-conference battle.

Danielle Redding (Las Vegas, Nev.), Ayanna Meadows (Springfield, Mass.) and Hannah Pichardo (South Glen Falls, N.Y.) carried the offensive load for the Blazers. Redding finished with 10 kills and a team-high 16 digs while Pichardo and Meadows each added nine kills. Govanna Rosado (Humaco, P.R.) had 17 assists and eight digs.

Perry Joubert (Seekonk, Mass.) had a match-high 20 digs in the match for Fitchburg State and Jillian Laabs (Dudley, Mass.) added three kills on seven attempts.

The Blazers return to action on Oct. 13 when New England Collegiate Conference play resumes at Eastern Nazarene. Elms will be back home to open a three-game homestand on Oct. 17 against Southern Vermont.
