Blazers Improve To 5-0 With Win At USJ

WEST HARTFORD, Conn. -- The Elms College women's volleyball team extended its season-opening win streak to five with a 3-1 victory over Saint Joseph (CT) on Thursday night. The Blazers won 25-14, 27-29, 25-14, 25-18 to improve to 5-0 on the year.

Ayanna Meadows (Springfield, Mass.) had a 10-kill, 11-dig double-double for the Blazers. Danielle Redding (Las Vegas, Nev.) finished with a match-high 14 kills while hitting .367. Hannah Adams (Deerfield, Mass.) added nine kills for the Blazers and Kianna Lozada (Bayamon, P.R) had 16 digs. Govanna Rosado (Humaco, P.R) had 20 assists for Elms and Dakota Stewart (Victoria, Texas) added 17.

The Blazers hit .223 for the contest and held USJ (1-2) to a .078 hitting percentage. Elms held a distinct advantage at the service line, firing 13 aces while giving up only three.

Aminah Tsonga (Plainville, Conn.) led USJ with 13 kills and Torrie Epps (Windsor, Conn.) added 12. Janell Molina (Honolulu, Hawai`i) had 14 digs and Brenna Miller (McCleary, Wash.) finished with 30 assists.

Both teams return to action on Sept. 8 as Elms visits Smith while USJ will take on Johnson & Wales and Colby-Sawyer.
