LONGMEADOW, Mass. – The Elms College women's soccer team defeated host Bay Path University, 2-1, in double overtime, during a New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) clash at Ryan Field Thursday afternoon. With the win, the Blazers rise to 11-5-1 overall and 5-1-1 in the NECC, while Bay Path dips to 3-3 in conference, and 6-5-1 on the season.

The Blazers struck early as senior Brie Voight (Springfield, Mass.) converted off a feed from junior Danielle Asklar (Berlin, Conn.) in the second minute of action to stake Elms to a 1-0 advantage. In the waning minutes of the first half, the Wildcats found the equalizer as junior Jai Ruiz (Hadley, Mass.) put back the rebound after Elms sophomore Rebecca Molin (West Hartford, Conn.) was unable to secure the loose ball following a save to even the score at 1-1.

After the sides were held scoreless in the second half, the Blazers put the game away as junior Christina Leonardo (Enfield, Conn.) played a ball to Voight, who placed a shot past Bay Path sophomore Caitlyn Esposito (East Haven, Conn.) to send Elms to the 2-1 victory.

The Blazers outshot the Wildcats, 27-3, during the contest. Molin made one save in the win, while Esposito made a match-high 12 saves for Bay Path.

The Blazers will look to remain in the win column when they host Wheelock College in NECC action Saturday at Leary Field at 2:00 p.m. Saturday's match will be Senior Day for Elms. Bay Path travels to Mitchell for an NECC tilt Saturday at Noon.
