CHICOPEE, Mass. – The Elms College women's soccer team opened their 2017 New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) schedule with a 4-0 victory over visiting Dean College at Leary Field Saturday afternoon. With the win, the Blazers rise to 5-2 overall, and 1-0 in NECC play, while Dean slides to 0-1 in conference and 0-4 on the season.

Just over five minutes into the first half, the Blazers cracked the scoreboard on a corner kick as senior Jacqueline Soucia (Belchertown, Mass.) lofted a cross towards the back of the box where classmate Silvana Tellerico (Southington, Conn.) elevated and volleyed the ball into the back corner of the goal, handing Elms a 1-0 advantage. The Blazers held the 1-0 edge heading into halftime.

In the 56th minute of play, senior Brie Voight (Springfield, Mass.) raced up the sideline towards goal and launched a cross to the front of the net, where senior Angelina Estrada (Springfield, Mass.) relayed the ball to the near post for a finish from senior Mackenzie LaRochelle (Springfield, Mass.), to push the advantage to 2-0.

After 20 minutes of scoreless play, Voight nabbed a loose ball in the Bulldogs zone, sprinted through the Dean defense and ripped a shot past Bulldog sophomore keeper Mackenzie Parisee (East Freetown, Mass.) to pad the gap to 3-0. Less than four minutes later, the Blazers delivered the final blow as Soucia received a pass from freshman Shannon Ryan (Leeds, Mass.), turned and placed a shot inside the near post, sending Elms to the 4-0 victory.

The Blazers racked up a season-high 38 shots, while the Elms defense held the Bulldogs without a shot during the contest. Elms sophomore keeper Rebecca Molin (West Hartford, Conn.) logged her fifth shutout of the season, while Parisee matched a season-high with 12 saves.

The Blazers will look to extend their win streak when they host Western New England in non-conference action Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. Dean travels to Rhode Island College for a non-conference match Monday at 6:00 p.m.
