Elms Leads NECC in Academic All-Conference selections

CHICOPEE, Mass. - A total of 155 student-athletes representing 10 institutions have qualified for the 2015 Spring Academic All-Conference team in the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC). To qualify for the honor a student-athlete must be a sophomore or higher in class standing and must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.4 on a 4.0 scale. Sports included on the team are Baseball, Men's and Women's Basketball, Men's and Women's Lacrosse, Softball, Men's Tennis and Men's Volleyball. Six student-athletes qualified in multiple sports.

Elms College had 30 student-athletes recognized as members of the Academic All-Conference team, leading the NECC in Academic All-Conference representatives. Softball led the way with nine student-athletes receiving the honor, including seniors Bethany Grimes, Jessica Colson, Gina DiGiovanni, Jennifer Bouvier, Elizabeth Patient, and Allie LaMonica; juniors Taylor Skinner and Samantha Alvino; and sophomore Tessa Cote.

Baseball notched eight student-athletes on the list with senior Ty Emet; juniors Derron Simpson, Tom Weldon, Kyle Bartlett, and Andrew Sadowski; and sophomores Jeff Hockenberry, Arthur Tisi, and Cody Lemieux. Women's Lacrosse had seven members named with seniors Nora McDonough and Kayla Narey; juniors Kieran Ramsey, Ashley Cava, and Jillian Pirog; and sophomores Kaeleigh Dowe and Meeghan O'Connor.

Men's Volleyball totaled three student-athletes with Academic All-Conference status in graduate Kevin Welsh, junior Roger Conklin, and sophomore Austin DeCosmo. Men's Basketball placed two student-athletes on the list with sophomore Conny Ihearahu and Sirvaughn Hobdy. Junior Maira Pantoja represented Women's Basketball.
