First Year Fridays: Men’s Basketball
Chicopee, MA - With COVID-19 stalling our fall season, the Elms College Athletic Department will be showcasing our first year Blazers every Friday. Next up is our Men's Basketball team. Follow along and get to know more about your fellow Blazers! The Men's Basketball Team program brought in four new players in 2020, here is a little something about each STUDENT-athlete.
What brought you to Elms? - I liked the campus, basketball program, and it was far from home
What made Elms stick out more than other colleges? The majors they had to offer and the support I'd receive
What are your pre-game rituals? Meditation
What is a quote you live by and why "the moment you give up, is the moment you let someone else win." I live by that quote because I'm not letting anybody stop me from achieving my goal or getting to the next level
Who inspires you to be the driven student athlete you are today? Myself
What brought you to Elms? - An opportunity to be able to compete athletically but also succeed academically with my major
What made Elms stick out more than other colleges? When I came on my visit here while getting recruited I liked the size of the school also everyone seems close like a family I liked that.
What are your pre-game rituals? I put my AirPods in listen to music, focus, and lock in mentally.
What is a quote you live by and why? "Everything negative – pressure, challenges – is all an opportunity for me to rise." — Kobe Bryant. Life has so many challenges after every challenge life throws at you, you have an opportunity to rise above it.
Who inspires you to be the driven student athlete you are today? I lost my mom at 18 in 2019 so everything I do now is for her, even though she isn't here anymore she still drives me to the student athlete I am today.
What brought you to Elms? The opportunity to play basketball near my hometown brought me to elms
What made Elms stick out more than other colleges? Elms stuck out the most because I wanted to start my career back in my community.
What are your pre-game rituals? My pre game ritual is listening to a playlist I made for game days.
What is a quote you live by and why? "Hard work beats talent when talent fails to work hard" is a quote I live by because I believe talent doesn't mean anything if you aren't a hard worker.
Who inspires you to be the driven student athlete you are today? My father inspires me to become to the student athlete I am today because he always shows me the best way to handle adversity.
