Rutgers University-Camden Bests Women’s Soccer, 1-0

MADISON, N.J. – Elms College sophomore goalkeeper Alexa Rinaudo (Bellmore, N.Y.) made nine saves but Rutgers University-Camden used a score by Catherine Fiore (Oaklyn, N.J.) in the 65th minute to help lift the Scarlet Raptors to a 1-0 victory in Sunday afternoon's Drew University Fall Festival women's soccer game in Madison, N.J.

With the loss, Elms falls to 1-2 overall, while Rutgers-Camden improves to 2-2 on the season.

After a scoreless first period of play that saw Elms outshoot Rutgers-Camden 6-4 and both goalkeepers make two saves, the Scarlet Raptors stemmed the tide in the second stanza, outshooting the Blazers 10-3 in the second 45 minutes.

Fiore broke through in the 65th minute of action when she fired a shot that Rinaudo initially saved, but the rebound came right back to Fiore and she was able to deposit the ball into the back of the net.

Rinaudo made seven of her nine saves in the second stanza and Elms fired a pair of shots on target but Scarlet Raptors' goalkeeper Lauren West (Mantua, N.J.) was equal to the task keeping the Blazers off the board to seal the 1-0 win.

Elms returns to non-conference play on Saturday, September 14 at MCLA at 4:00 p.m. in North Adams, Mass.
