Cross Country Sets Personal Records at Connecticut College Invite

WATERFORD, Conn. – The Elms College men's and women's cross country teams competed at the 2015 Connecticut College Invitational Saturday afternoon in their final preparations for the New England Collegiate Conference Championship on October 31st.

On the 8K men's event, freshman Keith Brown (Hartford, Conn.) posted his top collegiate time for the Blazers, finishing with a mark of 28:19, claiming 180th overall, and setting the Elms school record on any 8K course for the second straight week, besting his previous mark by more than 30 seconds. Freshman Weston Asselin (Agawam, Mass.) notch a personal record with a time of 30:34 to take 256th, while freshman Nic Kane (Uncasville, Conn.) set his personal best, finishing 275th with a time of 31:51. Senior Adam Kuzdzal (Chicopee, Mass.) was right behind Kane in 280th (32:09), and junior Joshua Diaz Rolon (Chicopee, Mass.) checked in at 290th with a time of 33:43.

For the women's 6K event, sophomore Sarah Tatgenhorst (Winterport, Maine) placed 208th overall with a time of 26:17 to lead the Blazers. Senior Emma Bernard (Springfield, Mass.) recorded her personal best, finishing at 267th with a mark of 28:16, while sophomore Sarah Kaczenski (Northfield, Mass.) was 10 spots back in 277th, clocking her personal record at 28:51. Freshman Carissa Costanza (Holyoke, Mass.) made her collegiate debut, taking 282nd with a time of 29:42. Sophomore Caitlyn Hoschtetler (South Hadley, Mass.) placed 285th at 29:54, followed by senior Jacqueline Quetti (Pittsfield, Mass.) in 289th with a personal-best time of 30:14.

The Blazers will be back in action for the 2015 New England Collegiate Conference Championship, hosted at Stanley Park in Westfield, Massachusetts on Saturday, October 31st.
