Cross Country Competes Well in Season Opening Run

BANGOR, Maine – The Elms College cross country squads had a quality showing in their 2015 season debut at the Husson Harrier Invitational Saturday afternoon. The women's team finished fifth overall, while individuals from the men's team started off the season strong.

On the women's side, sophomore Sarah Tatgenhorst (Winterport, Maine) claimed third overall, out of a field of more than 80 runners, posting a time of 22:06. Senior Emma Bernard (Springfield, Mass.) placed 37th with a time of 25:52, followed by sophomore Sarah Kaczenski (Northfield, Mass.) and senior Jacqueline Quetti (Pittsfield, Mass.) in 44th and 45th with times of 26:40 and 26:43, respectively. Sophomore Caitlin Hoschtetler (South Hadley, Mass.) finished 51st with a time of 27:34 to round out the women's runners.

For the men, freshman Keith Brown (Hartford, Conn.) placed 14th overall with a time of 29:51, setting the Elms College 8K school record in his first collegiate meet. Senior Adam Kuzdzal (Chicopee, Mass.) checked in at 43rd with a time of 32:45, freshman Weston Asselin (Agawam, Mass.) took 56th at 34:15, and junior Joshua Diaz Rolon (Chicopee, Mass.) came in at 85th with a time of 37:50.

The Blazers will look to maintain their solid momentum when they travel to North Dartmouth, Massachusetts for the UMass-Dartmouth Invitational on Saturday, September 19th.
