Cross Country Makes Strides at Blazer Invitational

CHICOPEE, Mass. – The Elms College cross country squads had a strong showing while hosting the 2015 Blazer Invitational at Chicopee Memorial State Park Saturday afternoon. The women's team finished in seventh place, while the men's team competed as individuals.

On the men's side, freshman Weston Asselin (Agawam, Mass.) posted the Blazers top finish, taking 23rd overall with a time of 31:44, setting the school record at the Blazers home course. Senior Adam Kuzdzal (Chicopee, Mass.) finished 31st with a time of 32:55, while freshman Nic Kane (Uncasville, Conn.) claimed 37th at 34:00. Junior Joshua Diaz Rolon (Chicopee, Mass.) recorded his best time of the season at 35:28 to finish 43rd.

For the women, sophomore Sarah Tatgenhorst (Winterport, Maine) placed 23rd with a time of 27:20. Senior Emma Bernard (Springfield, Mass.) checked in at 42nd (30:14), and senior Jacqueline Quetti (Pittsfield, Mass.) took 47th at 30:58. Sophomore Caitlyn Hoschtetler (South Hadley, Mass.) finished 54th (32:07), and senior Lara Atamaniuk claimed 78th with a time of 40:42.

Trinity College won the event with seven runner finishing in the top 10 for 19 points. Massachusetts Maritime took second with 67 points, followed by Johnson & Wales (67), Wheelock (125), and Lesley (125) to round out the top 5.

The Blazers will return to action at the James Earley Invitational, hosted by Westfield State, on October 10th.
