Women's Cross Country 17th At WNEC Invitational

WOMEN'S CROSS COUNTRY 17TH AT WNEC INVITATIONAL

SPRINGFIELD, MA, Oct. 18, 2008 - Elms College senior Jill Bigos (South Hadley, MA) cruised to a top 10 finish to help lead the women's cross country team to a 17th place showing at Saturday's WNEC Invitational.

Bigos clocked an impressive 20:50 over the 5,000-meter (3.1-mile) course to place 10th out of 150 runners.

Elms College tallied 339 points en route to its 17th place finish out of 20 scoring teams. Salve Regina won the team title with 87 points. Endicott (88), Castleton State (122), Bard (125), Clark (185), WNEC (201), AIC (204), Norwich (245), St. Joseph (CT) (262) and John Jay (314) rounded out the top 10.

Freshman Becka Boisseau (Chicopee, MA) (25:09), junior Amanda Koch (Williston, VT) (25:35), freshman Erica Cruz (Westfield, MA) (29:04) and freshman Jessica Plourde (Westfield, MA) (29:25) all competed for the Blazers in Saturday's race.

Elms College returns to action next Sunday, October 26 in the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Championship at Franklin Park. Race time is 2:00 p.m.
