CHICOPEE, MA, Oct. 25, 2008 - Elms College senior outside hitter Jeannette Nunez (Canovanas, Puerto Rico) and freshman middle hitter Stacy Croteau (Agawam, MA) combined for 44 kills and 15 aces to help the Blazers earn a sweep over Lesley and Southern Vermont in Saturday's New England Collegiate Conference women's volleyball tri-match at the Maguire Center.

The Blazers beat Lesley 3-1 (18-25, 25-21, 27-25, 25-21) and Southern Vermont 3-0 (25-9, 25-29, 25-12). Lesley earned a split with a 3-0 (25-11, 25-7, 25-10) win over Southern Vermont.

With its sweep, Elms College (9-13 overall, 6-1 NECC) finished second in the final regular season NECC standings and earned a first-round bye in the upcoming six-team, conference tournament. The Blazers now advance to the semifinal round next Saturday, November 2 at Daniel Webster to face an opponent to be determined.

The Lynx moved to 7-10, 5-2 NECC and the Mountaineers finished 0-21, 0-7 NECC.

In Elms College's win over Lesley, Croteau blasted down a match-high 13 kills and up 11 digs. Nunez had 11 kills and scooped up 18 digs, and Phillips handed out 26 assists.

In Elms College's win over Southern Vermont, Nunez hammered down 12 kills, junior libero Christie Sevigny (Chicopee, MA) had a match-high nice aces and freshman outside hitter Jen Rego (Fall River, MA) registered 14 assists.

In Lesley's win over Southern Vermont, senior setter Gianna Spaziante (Hawthorne, NY) had 18 assists and five aces, while junior middle hitter Lindsey Marek (Killingworth, CT) hammered down seven kills and six aces.
