CHICOPEE, MA, Sept. 27, 2008- Elms College senior outside hitter Jeannette Nunez (Canovanas, Puerto Rico) recorded match-highs with 11 kills and seven service aces to lead the Blazers over Becker College 3-0 (25-10, 25-14, 25-18) in Saturday morning's New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) women's volleyball match at the Maguire Center.

The Blazers won for the third time in their last four matches to improve to 3-10 overall, 2-0 in the NECC. The Hawks fall to 3-8 overall and 0-1 in the NECC.

Nunez and freshman middle hitter Stacy Croteau (Agawam, MA) had four kills apiece in the first set for the Blazers, who used a 17-5 run midway through the set en route to a 25-10 victory.

In the second set, the Blazers broke away from an 8-8 tie with a 12-1 run that included three more kills by Nunez and a pair of service aces by junior libero Christie Sevigny (Chicopee, MA).

Nunez then delivered five service aces to help the Blazers race out to a 12-1 lead and secure their second sweep over the Hawks in a week.

Sevigny recorded seven digs and a collegiate career-high five aces, while junior setter Kim Phillips (Randolph, MA) handed out a match-high 21 assists, and added a pair of aces.

For the match, Elms College registered 15 aces and hit .264, including a .455 percentage in the first set.

Senior middle blocker Rachel Pinak (Cheektowaga, NY) recorded a team-high five kills and eight digs for the Hawks in the loss.

The Blazers will try for the third straight win on Wednesday, October 1 when they host in a non-conference match scheduled for 7:00 p.m. at the Maguire Center.
