NORTHAMPTON, MA, Sept. 6, 2008 - Elms College senior outside hitter Jeannette Nunez (Canovanas, Puerto Rico) knocked down a combined 11 kills in two matches, but the Blazers dropped 3-0 decisions to both Smith College and Westfield State in Saturday's women's volleyball tri-match at Smith College.

Elms College (0-3) fell to Smith 25-6, 25-15, 25-19 in its first match of the day, then lost to Westfield State 25-18, 25-15, 25-16 in the second match.

Junior setter Kim Phillips (Randolph, MA) handed out a combined 17 assists in the losing effort.

Elms College returns to non-conference play on Tuesday, September 9 at Mount Holyoke. Match time is 7:00 p.m.
