Women's Volleyball Rallies Past Mitchell, 3-2

WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL RALLIES PAST MITCHELL, 3-2

NEW LONDON, CT, Oct. 15, 2008 - Elms College senior outside hitter Jeannette Nunez (Canovanas, Puerto Rico) knocked down a season-high 22 kills and the Blazers staved off elimination to earn a thrillling 3-2 (25-19, 23-25, 25-27, 27-25, 15-10) win over Mitchell in Wednesday night's New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) women's volleyball match at Yarnall Gym.

With the victory, Elms College (6-12, 3-0 NECC) won for the fifth time in its last seven matches to move atop the NECC standings as the lone remaining unbeaten team in conference play. Mitchell fell to 4-11, 2-3.

Nunez also had seven aces, freshman middle hitter Stacy Croteau (Agawam, MA) added nine kills and four aces, while junior setter Kim Phillips (Randolph, MA) handed out 23 assists.

The Blazers return to NECC play on Saturday, October 18 at Daniel Webster for a conference tri-match that will also include Newbury. Elms College faces Newbury at 12:00 p.m. and host Daniel Webster at 2:00 p.m.
