SOUTH HADLEY, MA, Sept. 9, 2008 - Elms College senior outside hitter Jeannette Nunez (Canovanas, Puerto Rico) recorded 13 kills, eight digs and two aces, but Mount Holyoke held off a furious rally to post a 3-2 (25-18, 25-15, 18-25, 22-25, 15-13) win over the Blazers in Tuesday night's non-conference women's volleyball match at Mildred Howard Gymnasium.

Mount Holyoke improved to 2-1 with the victory, while Elms College remained winless at 0-4.

After taking the first two sets, Mount Holyoke dropped the next two. Elms College led early in the fifth and deciding set, but the Lyons came back to secure their second win of the 2008 campaign.

Sophomore Rosa Marruffo (Tulsa, OK) was solid for the Lyons, as she hammered down 17 kills and added 12 digs. The defensive specialist also tallied six service aces and one block.

Senior outside hitter Chelsea Tracy (St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands) posted 15 kills and 16 digs for her second straight double-double and third of her career. Meanwhile, senior libero Kathryne Schwartz (Ridgewood, NJ) and sophomore setter Kateryna Kuc (New Haven, CT) tallied 21 digs and 37 assists, respectively.

Freshman middle hitter Stacy Croteau (Agawam, MA) knocked down a collegiate career-high 10 kills, while junior setter Kim Phillips (Randolph, MA) registered a match-high 31 assists.

Elms College returns to action on Friday, September 12 at the Union Tournament. The Blazers will face off against both Union (6:00 p.m.) and Hamilton College (8:00 p.m.) that night.
