WORCESTER, MA, Oct. 4, 2008 - Elms College freshman middle hitter Stacy Croteau (Agawam, MA) and senior outside hitter Jeannette Nunez (Canovanas, Puerto Rico) combined for 38 kills to help the Blazers earn a split of Saturday's women's volleyball non-conference tri-match at WPI.

Elms College opened the day with a convincing 3-0 (25-13, 25-17, 25-18) win over Anna Maria, but lost 3-0 (25-19, 25-14, 25-22) to host WPI in the second match.

Against WPI, Nunez turned in a strong performance, as she had 11 kills, seven digs and two blocks while junior setter Kim Phillips (Randolph, MA) dished out 22 assists while adding two blocks.

In the Blazers' win over Anna Maria, Nunez was outstanding as she notched 15 kills, five digs, one block and a service ace, Croteau helped out with six kills and five digs while Phillips handed out a robust 30 assists with three service aces. 

Elms College (5-11) returns to action when it hosts St. Joseph (CT) in a non-conference match on Thursday, October 9. Match time is 7:00 p.m. at the Maguire Center.
