Women's Volleyball Drops Two In First Day Of Union Tournament

SCHENECTADY, NY, Sept. 12, 2008 - Elms College senior outside hitter Jeannette Nunez (Canovanas, Puerto Rico) recorded a combined 13 kills, but the Blazers fell to both host Union and Hamilton in the first night of the Union Tournament at Alumni Gymnasium.

Elms College (0-6) fell 3-0 (25-10, 25-10, 25-18) to Union in the first match, then lost 3-0 (25-12, 25-17, 25-13) to Hamilton in the second match of the night.

Junior setter Kim Phillips (Randolph, MA) handed out a combined 23 assists, including 15 against Hamilton, while junior libero Christy Sevigny (Chicopee, MA) added eight digs in the second match.

The Blazers return to action at the Union Tournament on Saturday, September 13 with scheduled matches against Sage (10:00 a.m.) and Utica (2:00 p.m.)
