Women's Volleyball Earns NEWVA Academic Award

WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL EARNS NEWVA ACADEMIC TEAM AWARD

BRISTOL, RI, Feb. 21, 2009 - The New England Women's Volleyball Association (NEWVA) recently announced today it recipients of the NEWVA Academic Team Award and Elms College was among 15 teams honored from across the region.

To earn the honor, a team-average of at least a 3.3 GPA during the fall semester was needed.

The NEWVA Academic Team Award was established in 2008 to recognize the hard work and dedication of the teams' student-athletes off the court and in the classroom. Twenty-five percent of all the member programs qualified for the award.

Established nearly 25 years ago, the New England Women's Volleyball Association is open to all collegiate institutions in New England sponsoring Division III women's volleyball. Membership has grown to 60 members in 2009, representing eight conferences.
