Women's Volleyball Splits Non-Conference Tri-Match

CHICOPEE, MA, Oct. 13, 2007 - Elms College junior outside hitter Jeannette Nunez (Canovanas, Puerto Rico) had a combined 29 kills in two matches to help the Blazers earn a split of Saturday's non-conference women's volleyball tri-match at the Maguire Center.

Elms College (7-11) snapped a five match losing streak by defeating Anna Maria 3-0 (30-26, 30-20, 30-28) and then lost to WPI 3-0 (30-27, 30-27, 30-20). 

WPI (11-14) earned a sweep of its two matches with a 3-0 (30-14, 30-23, 30-18) victory over Anna Maria.

In the win over Anna Maria, WPI junior outside hitter Nikki Croteau (Wilbraham, MA) had 30 assists and sophomore outside hitter Becca Holmberg (Madison, CT) recorded 14 kills.

Against the Engineers, Anna Maria sophomore outside hitter Brittany Langdeau (Wolcott, CT) blasted 13 kills and senior setter Jacqueline Laham (Westwood, MA) recorded 11 digs.

For Elms College in its victory over Anna Maria sophomore middle hitter Melissa Clark (Chicopee, MA) had 10 kills while sophomore setter Kim Phillips (Randolph, MA) tallied 28 assists. 

Elms College returns to non-conference action when the Blazers host Daniel Webster on Wednesday, October 17.  Match time is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
