Women's Volleyball Sweeps NAC Tri-Match With Becker, Maine-Farmington

WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL SWEEPS NAC TRI-MATCH WITH BECKER, MAINE-FARMINGTON

WORCESTER, MA, Oct. 20, 2007 - Elms College sophomore middle hitter Melissa Clark (Chicopee, MA) recorded 27 kills in two matches to help lead the Blazers to a sweep of Saturday's North Atlantic Conference (NAC) women's volleyball tri-match at Becker.

Elms College (10-11, 6-2 NAC) first defeated host Becker 3-2, (28-30, 30-25, 30-22, 24-30, 15-11) and then downed Maine-Farmington 3-0 (30-25, 30-18, 30-20). The Blazer win over Maine-Farmington marks the first victory against the Beavers in the history of the program.

Elms College junior outside hitter Jeannette Nunez (Canovanas, Puerto Rico) knocked down 25 kills against Becker. Nunez finished the tri-match with a total of 39 kills. Sophomore setter Kim Phillips (Randolph, MA) recorded 33 assists against Maine-Farmington.

Elms College will look to extend a three-match win streak when the Blazers return to non-conference play Tuesday, October 23 at St. Josephs. Match time is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
