Women's Volleyball Earns NAC Tri-Match Split

WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL SPLITS NAC TRI-MATCH WITH BAY PATH, MAINE MARITIME

LONGMEADOW, MA, Sept. 22, 2007 - Elms College freshman outside hitter Jeannette Nunez (Canovanas, Puerto Rico) knocked down a combined 39 kills in two matches and sophomore setter Kim Phillips (Randolph, MA) handed out 67 assists to help the Blazers earn a split of Saturday's North Atlantic Conference (NAC) women's volleyball tri-match at Bay Path.

Elms College (3-5, 2-2 NAC) fell to Maine Maritime 3-2 (18-30, 30-24, 25-30, 30-20, 15-8), but defeated host Bay Path 3-0 (30-16, 34-32, 30-26).

Nunez blasted out a five-game school-record 26 kills and added 15 digs in the Blazers' loss to Maine Maritime, then added 13 kills, 11 digs and four aces in the win over Bay Path.

Sophomore middle hitter Melissa Clark (Chicopee, MA) also had 13 kills in the win over the Wildcats, while Phillips recorded 28 assists.

Elms College returns to conference play at Becker College on Wednesday, September 26. Match time is 7:00 p.m.
