WOMEN'S SWIMMING DOWNED BY UMASS-DARTMOUTH, 148-86

CHICOPEE, MA, Jan. 17, 2009 - UMass-Dartmouth junior Kathleen Foley (Haverhill, MA) won three events and the visiting Corsairs posted victories in 11 of 14 total events en route to a 148-86 win over Elms College in Saturday's women's swimming meet at Partyka Natatorium.

After losing its first six meets to start the season, UMass-Dartmouth (2-6) has now won two straight. Elms College lost its fifth straight and fell to 1-9.

Foley posted first place finishes in the 200-meter freestyle (2:30.51), 100-meter butterfly (1:16.82) and 100-meter breaststroke (1:23.86), while junior teammate Kaitlyn Kewriga (Stoughton, MA) was a double-event winner in the 200-meter backstroke (2:49.48) and 100-meter backstroke (1:18.72).

Sophomore Theresa Pitassi (Naugatuck, CT) (100-meter individual medley) and sophomore Alison McBride (East Providence, RI) (200-meter individual medley) were the two individual event winners for Elms College.

The Blazers return to dual-meet action at WNEC on Tuesday, January 20. Meet time is 7:00 p.m.
