CHICOPEE, MA. Jan. 12, 2007 - Elms College senior Kaity Jo Bryll (East Hartland, CT) placed first in both the 200-meter freestyle (2:36) and the 100-meter freestyle (1:07.50) to help lead the women's swimming team to a 139-105 victory over Mount St. Mary's in Saturday afternoon's double-dual meet at Partyka Natatorium.
With the win the women's swimming team improves to a record of 4-5 on the season, while Mount St. Mary's College drops to a mark of 4-4.
Byrll was one of three Blazer swimmers who placed first in multiple events. Sophomore Kathleen Towle (Brockton, MA) earned a first place in both the 800-meter freestyle (11:46.62) and the 400-meter freestyle (5:43.67), while freshman Dariana Diaz (Dorchester, MA) clocked winning times in the 50-meter backstroke (39.57) and the 100-meter backstroke (1:25.27).
Elms College freshman Theresa Pitassi (Naugatuck, CT) contributed to the Blazer victory by outpacing all competitors in the 50-meter freestyle (31.46).
Bryll, Towle, and Pitassi then joined with sophomore teammate Liz Walker (Holyoke, MA) in the 200-meter freestyle relay and finished first with a time of 2:19.68.
Mount St. Mary's College sophomore Annie Parodi (Warwick, N.Y.) earned a first place finish in three individual events. Parodi recorded winning times in the 50-meter breastroke (39.58), the 100-meter breaststroke (1:27.42), and the 100-meter individual medley (1:20.99).
The women's swimming team returns to action Saturday, January 19 at UMASS Dartmouth. Meet time is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
