WOMEN'S SWIMMING FALLS AT WNEC, 140-90

SPRINGFIELD, MA, Jan. 24, 2007 - Elms College freshman Liz Walker (Holyoke, MA) won three individual events and junior Kaity Jo Bryll (East Hartland, CT) set a new school record in the 50-yard freestyle, but host Western New England College (WNEC) went on to post a 140-90 win over the Blazers in Wednesday night's women's swimming meet at the Alumni Healthful Living Center.

With the loss, Elms College fell to 4-7 overall, while WNEC improved to 4-6.

Walker was a triple winner as she captured the 50-yard breaststroke (33.39), 100-yard breaststroke (1:11.82), and the 200-yard individual medley (2:23.73). Walker's time in the 200 IM also established a new school record.

Bryll's second place time of 27.26 was also good enough to clock a new school mark in that event.

Bryll and Walker also teamed with sophomores Sarah Lapolice (West Springfield, MA) and Katelyn Wasgatt (Worcester, MA) to post a first place finish in the 200-yard medley relay.

For the Golden Bears, sophomore Jamie Campo (Port Jefferson, NY) won the 50-yard freestyle (26.89), 100-yard freestyle (58.75) and 200-yard freestyle (2:04.99).

Elms College returns to action on Saturday, January 27 in a double-dual meet at Gordon College. The Blazers will face the host Fighting Scots and Norwich University at 1:00 p.m.
