CHICOPEE, MA, Oct. 8, 2008 - Elms College junior forward Serina Percoski (Westfield, MA) netted a pair of goals and the Blazers scored five times in the first half en route to a 7-0 shutout win over Southern Vermont in Wednesday's New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) women's soccer game at Leary Field.

Elms College won its third straight to improve to 5-6 overall and remain atop the NECC standings at 5-0. Southern Vermont fell to 0-10, 0-5 NECC.

Junior midfielder Kelsey Battige (Monson, MA) and Percoski tallied in the game's opening 3:44 to stake the Blazers to a quick 2-0 lead.

Junior midfielder Shannon Schickler (Adams, MA) followed with her first goal of the year in the 12th minute, junior forward Krystyna Gagne (Methuen, MA) added her team-leading 11th goal of the year in the 14th minute and junior midfielder Vanessa Pare (Belchertown, MA) tallied her second of the season in the 31st minute to help the Blazers to a 5-0 lead at intermission.

Freshman defender Amanda Alvarado (Springfield, MA) scored her first collegiate goal in the 82nd minute on a shot from outside the penalty area that went over the head of Southern Vermont freshman goalkeeper Jillian Neudecker (Johnsonville, NY).

Percoski added her second goal of the game - fourth this season - off a header on a cross by Pare in the 84th minute to conclude the scoring.

Neudecker finished with 15 saves for the Mountaineers in the loss, while Elms College senior goalkeeper Shannon Donnelly (Florence, MA) was not called upon to make a save and was credited with her third straight shutout.

Elms College returns to NECC play at Wheelock on Saturday, October 11. Game time is 12:30 p.m. at Winsor School.
