NEW LONDON, CT, Oct. 22, 2008- Elms College sophomore forward Alison Couture (Chicopee, MA) netted a pair of goals and junior forward Krystyna Gagne (Methuen, MA) added a goal and three assists to help the Blazers post a convincing 5-0 shutout win over Mitchell in Wednesday's New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) women's soccer game at New London, Connecticut.

With the win, Elms College (8-7 overall) remained atop the NECC standings at 7-0. The Blazers can claim the regular season conference title with a win over Lesley this Saturday.

In Wednesday's win at Mitchell, Couture opened the scoring just 1:24 into the game to give the Blazers a quick 1-0 lead.

Despite holding a 16-2 advantage in shots in the opening 45 minutes, the Blazers led just 1-0 at intermission.

Junior forward Serina Percoski (Westfield, MA) scored her sixth goal of the year 2:05 into the second half to extend Elms College's lead to 2-0.

From there the Blazers put the game away when Gagne added her team-leading 13th goal of the year at 55:40, and Couture followed with her second goal of the game - 11th this season - just 56 seconds later and freshman forward Jen Killion (Cambridge, MA) concluded the scoring in the 83rd minute.

Freshman goalkeeper Kelly Callahan (Monson, MA) stopped sixth shots for her third shutout of the season.
