SOUTH HADLEY, MA, Sept. 23, 2008 - Mount Holyoke sophomore midfielder Yuko Takahashi (Tochigi, Japan) recorded a pair of goals to help boost the host Lyons post a 3-0 victory over Elms College in Tuesday afternoon's non-conference women's soccer game at the Mount Holyoke Soccer Field.

Takahashi got Mount Holyoke on the board just 6:12 into the contest, when she scored off a feed from junior forward Lauren Orr (Fullerton, CA). After receiving the pass from Orr, she flicked a shot over the head of Blazers first year goalkeeper Kelly Callahan (Monson, MA) from close range. It was her first collegiate tally.

Mount Holyoke's cushion expanded to 2-0 following Takahashi's second goal of the day in the 25th minute. The goal came off of a free kick set from just outside the Elms penalty box. Takahashi collected a touch pass from junior midfielder Jesse Sugrue (Belchertown, MA) at the eighteen and fired a shot toward the goal. Callahan got a piece of the ball but it found its way into the net.

The Lyons put things out of reach in the 32nd minute, when senior midfielder Emmy Fontaine (Bolton, MA) registered her second goal of the season. Junior midfielder Perry Markell (Portsmouth, RI) started the play with a shot from the right wing. Her attempt was blocked toward Fontaine, who collected the rebound and beat Callahan.

Mount Holyoke finished the match with a 29-12 advantage in the shot column. The teams earned five corner kick chances apiece.

Junior Elaine Harvey (Boston, MA) and first year Susanna Lobowitz (Alexandria, VA) combined for the Lyons first shutout of the year. Harvey got the start and made a pair of saves in the first half. Lobowitz came up with four saves after the break.

Callahan accumulated 12 saves for the Blazers.

Elms College (1-6-0, 1-0-0 NECC) returns to action when it hosts Becker College for a New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) game at 3:30 p.m.
