CHICOPEE, MA, Oct. 21, 2006 - Elms College sophomore midfielder Kerrie Bowden (Chicopee, MA) recorded her first collegiate three-goal game and the Blazers netted three second half goals to pull away to a 4-0 win over Johnson State College in Saturday afternoon's North Atlantic Conference (NAC) women's soccer game at Leary Field.

With the victory, Elms College won for the 12th time in its last 14 games to improve to 12-5 overall and remained atop the NAC standings at 10-1. Johnson State lost its fourth straight game and fell to 6-11 overall, 3-8 NAC.

A victory over Castleton State College on Sunday afternoon will assure the Blazers the outright NAC regular season championship and home field advantage throughout the upcoming NAC Tournament.

Bowden opening the scoring with her second goal of the year in the 9th minute after blasting a shot past Johnson State freshman goalkeeper Shelly Szkutak (Lake Placid, NY) from inside the six-yard box following a scramble in front of the net.

Senior forward Jen LeDoux (Easthampton, MA) wasted no time in extending the Blazers lead to 2-0 after netting her team-leading 11th goal of the season just 35 seconds into the second half off a pass from freshman forward Krystyna Gagne (Methuen, MA).

Bowden then sealed the victory with her third and fourth goals of the season in the 54th and 78th minutes.

Sophomore goalkeeper Shannon Donnelly (Florence, MA) was called upon to stop only two shots en route to her eighth shutout of the year.

Szkutak was brilliant for the Badgers, as she finished with 22 stops in the losing effort.
