CHICOPEE, MA, Sept. 24, 2006 - Elms College senior forward Jen LeDoux (Easthampton, MA) netted her team-leading sixth goal of the season and sophomore goalkeeper Shannon Donnelly (Florence, MA) stopped six shots to lead the Blazers to a thrilling 1-0 win over Husson College in Sunday's North Atlantic Conference (NAC) women's soccer game at Leary Field.

With the victory, Elms College extended its winning streak to five games to improve to 5-3 overall and improved to a conference-best 4-0 in the NAC. Husson lost for the second time in its last three games to fall to 4-3 overall, 1-1 NAC.

LeDoux netted the game's only goal, her sixth in the last four games, in the 80th minute after receiving a beautiful through-ball from freshman forward Krystyna Gagne (Methuen, MA), splitting a pair of defenders and blasting a shot past Husson senior goalkeeper Leah Drew (Caribou, ME) for what stood as the game-winner.

The visiting Eagles outshot the Blazers 14-11, but were held off by Donnelly, who registered her third shutout of the season.

Drew finished with two stops for Husson in the loss.

Elms College returns to non-conference play at Mount Holyoke College on Thursday, September 28. Game time is 4:30 p.m.
