 WOMEN'S LACROSSE FALLS AT WESTERN CONNECTICUT STATE, 21-0

DANBURY, CT, April 23, 2009 - Freshman goalkeeper Holly Braziel (Shelburne Falls, MA) stopped 13 shots, but Western Connecticut State University scored five goals in the game's opening five minutes and went on to post a 21-0 win over the Blazers in Thursday's non-conference women's lacrosse game at The WAC.

The Colonials, now 8-8, scored five goals before five minutes had elapsed off the scoreboard and closed out the first half with a 15-0 lead.

Six different Colonials scored a pair of goals, as Ashley Caruso (Northport, NY) led all scorers with two goals and four assists for six points.

Jessica Bouwman (New Milford, CT), Kara Kruczkiewicz (Brookfield, CT), Jessica Majeski (Norwalk, CT) and Catherine Haase (Middlebury, CT) also had a pair of markers for the winners.

Lauren Poppe (Brookfield, CT) had a goal and four assists in the winning effort.

Elms College concludes its 2009 season when it hosts Worcester State on Saturday, April 25. Game time is 12:00 p.m.
