WOMEN'S LACROSSE FALLS AT HUSSON, 17-2

BANGOR, ME, April 10, 2009 - Elms College freshman goalkeeper Holly Braziel (Shelburne Falls, MA) turned away a collegiate career-high 25 shots, but Husson University jumped out to an eight-goal halftime lead en route to a 17-2 win over the Blazers in Friday's non-conference women's lacrosse game at Bangor.

With the win, the Eagles improved to 3-3, while the Blazers remained winless at 0-10.

Husson jumped out to a 4-0 lead over the first 3:43 before junior defender Jess Shea (South Hadley, MA) netted her first goal of the year to cut the Blazers' deficit to 4-1.

The Eagles then scored six unanswered goals in a 16:20 span to build a 10-1 lead.

Elms College freshman attack Katlyn Harrington (East Longmeadow, MA) netted her 10th goal of the year in the final minute of the first half to cut Husson's advantage to 10-2 at intermission.

From there, though, the Eagles scored the game's final seven goals to claim the first-ever meeting between the two teams.

Elms College returns to non-conference play on Wednesday, April 15 at Pine Manor. Game time is 5:00 p.m.
