WOMEN'S LACROSSE SHUTDOWN AT SMITH, 18-2

NORTHAMPTON, MA, April 1, 2008 - Elms College freshman attack Jennifer Lough (Feeding Hills, MA) and sophomore defender Ashley Ziemba (West Springfield, MA) each scored a goal, but Smith College raced out to a 14-goal halftime lead en route to an 18-2 win over the Blazers in Tuesday's non-conference women's lacrosse game at Northampton.

Elms College fell to 2-3 with the loss, while Smith improved to 1-4.

The host Pioneers outshot the Blazers 27-3 in the opening 30 minutes and built a 14-0 lead at intermission.

Junior goalkeeper Alicia Bobbie (Higganum, CT) stopped 13 shots in the losing effort.

Elms College returns to New England Women's Lacrosse Alliance (NEWLA) play at Worcester State on Thursday, April 3. Game time is 6:00 p.m.
