CHICOPEE, MA, April 9, 2007 - Elms College junior attack wing Caitlin Childs (Hingham, MA) netted her team-leading fifth goal of the year, but Rhode Island College senior center Caitlin Gavin (Portsmouth, RI) erupted for a game-high eight goals and seven assists to help the Anchorwomen post a 22-4 win over the Blazers in Monday's non-conference women's lacrosse game at Leary Field.

Rhode Island College snapped a four-game losing streak and improved to 1-4 overall. Elms College remained winless at 0-4.

Gavin, who ran her team-leading goal total to 22 on the season, tallied six of her goals in the opening half to help the Anchorwomen build a 14-3 lead at intermission.

Junior midfielder Kerry McDevitt (Jamestown, RI) added a season-high seven goals for Rhode Island College, which outshot the host Blazers 41-14 in the victory.

Junior attack wing Catherine Thresher (West Suffield, CT) tallied her first goal of the year for the Blazers, who also received single tallies from junior center Lauren O'Donnell (Hampden, MA), and junior defense wing Raemarie Josefiak (Springfield, MA) in the losing effort.

Elms College returns to non-conference play when it hosts Nichols College on Wednesday, April 11. Game time is 4:00 p.m.
