CHICOPEE, MA, April 21, 2007 - Elms College junior defender Raemarie Josefiak (Springfield, MA) and senior defender Jill Jacobs (Douglas, MA) netted two goals apiece, but Norwich University received a game-high four-goal effort from freshman midfielder Allison Daniels (Concord, NH) and used a big first half run to pull away to a 13-7 win over the Blazers in Saturday's New England Women's Lacrosse Alliance (NEWLA) game at Leary Field.

Norwich, a first-year intercollegiate program, won its fifth straight game and improved to 6-2 overall and remained in third place in the NEWLA standings at 4-1. Elms College fell to 1-8 overall, 1-5 NEWLA.

Jacobs scored her third goal of the year 4:41 into the opening half to give the Blazers a 1-0 lead.

Norwich, however, then responded with seven unanswered goals over the next 12:27, including two each from Daniels and junior attack Ashley Haviland (Manchester Center, VT) to build a 7-1 lead.

Senior attack Colleen Strunk (Stoneham, MA) and freshman attack Ashley Ziemba (Chicopee, MA) answered with goals to cut the Blazers' deficit to 7-3.

Junior midfielder Kristen Lewis (Berlin, VT) and Daniels tallied in the final 2:50 of the half to give Norwich a 9-3 lead at intermission.

The Blazers would close to within 10-5 following junior defender Caitlin Childs' (Hingham, MA) team-leading 15th goal of the year with 9:07 remaining in the game.

Norwich freshman midfielder Kathleen Hennessy (Essex Junction, VT) then scored all three of her goals in the final 7:01 to seal the Cadets' victory.

Sophomore goalkeeper Katie Fraser (Coventry, RI) stopped 11 shots to post her sixth win of the year for the Cadets, while sophomore goalkeeper Alicia Bobbie (Higganum, CT) finished with 18 stops for the Blazers.
