CHICOPEE, MA, Feb. 12, 2009 - Elms College freshman point guard Carolyn Talmadge (Wilbraham, MA) poured in a game-high 17 points and senior forward Paige Schneider (Windsor, CT) added 14 points and a collegiate career-high 20 rebounds to carry the Blazers to a 60-32 win over Wheelock College in Thursday's New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) women's basketball game at the Maguire Center.

Elms College won for the sixth time in seven games to improve to 11-10 overall, 9-3 NECC. Wheelock lost its fourth straight and fell to 2-19, 2-10 NECC.

Talmadge netted 13 points on 5 of 6 shooting that included a pair of 3-pointers in the first half, while Schneider added 11 points and 13 rebounds in the opening 20 minutes to help the Blazers build a commanding 40-18 lead at intermission.

Schneider's career-night on the boards marked the fourth-highest, single-game total in program-history, as she became just the fourth player in 29 years to grab 20 or more rebounds.

Elms College's defense was solid, as Wheelock was held to just 5 of 27 shooting in the first half and was limited to just one field goal over the first 10:32 of the second half.

Junior forwards Erin Hutchinson (Groton, MA) and Tomie Lafond (Hatfield, MA) added 11 points apiece for the Blazers, who had just seven players dress due to injury, but had all score.

Junior guard Sarah Brown (Plainville, CT) dropped in a team-high 12 points on 4 of 10 shooting from 3-point range for the Wildcats in the loss.

Elms College returns to NECC play at Bay Path on Saturday, February 14. Tip-off is 1:00 p.m.
