DUDLEY, MA, Dec. 4, 2008- Elms College junior forward Amanda Brogna (Oxford, MA) poured in a collegiate career-high 25 points and hauled in 12 rebounds, but Nichols senior guard MaryLynn Skarzenski (Woodbridge, NJ) responded with 23 points, including seven 3-pointers to carry the host Bison to a 62-46 win over the Blazers in Thursday night's non-conference women's basketball game at Dudley.

With the win, Nichols improved to 5-2, while Elms College fell to 1-6.

Brogna's previous career-high of 20 points came two other times, most recently against Husson on February 2, 2008.

In Thursday night's game, the Blazers jumped out to a 7-3 lead in the game's first 2:56. Skarzenski, however, hit consecutive 3-pointers - the first of her four first half trifectas - to give Nichols an 11-9 lead.

Brogna finished with 12 points and seven rebounds in the opening 20 minutes to keep Elms College close, as Nichols led 26-17 at intermission.

The Bison came out in the second half with a 13-5 run in the first five minutes of the second half to put the game out of reach and extend its lead to 49-22.

Skarzenksi finished a sizzling 7 for 9 from beyond the arc to help Nichols outscore the Blazers 30-3 from 3-point range.

Elms College concludes first semester play with a non-conference game at SUNYIT on Monday, December 15. Tip-off is 4:00 p.m.
