Schneider Named NECC Player Of The Week
SCHNEIDER NAMED NECC PLAYER OF THE WEEK
ATTLEBORO, MA, Feb. 16, 2009 - Elms College women's
basketball senior forward Paige Schneider (Windsor,
CT) was named New England Collegiate Conference (NECC)
Player of the Week on Monday, February 16.
Schneider earned the weekly honor for the first time in her collegiate career as she averaged team-best 14.0 points and 16.0 rebounds to help lead the Blazers to a 2-0 week that included conference wins over Wheelock and Bay Path.
In last Thursday's 60-32 win over Wheelock, Schneider scored 14 points and added a collegiate career-high 20 rebounds. Her career-night on the boards marked the fourth-highest, single-game total in program-history, as Schneider became just the fourth player in 29 years to grab 20 or more rebounds.
In Saturday's 57-27 win at Bay Path, Schneider added her second straight double-double and sixth this season with 14 points and 12 rebounds.
Schneider begins the week just 21 points away from surpassing Lauren Donovan as the program's 12th all-time leading scorer.
For the season, Schneider has averaged 9.3 points and 7.6 rebounds in 22 starts.
