Women's Basketball Eliminated From NECC Tournament

NEW LONDON, CT, Feb. 27, 2009 - Elms College junior forward Amanda Brogna (Oxford, MA) registered a team-leading 16 points and 12 rebounds, but Lesley University junior center Hailee Lowe (Hamilton, MA) poured in a game-high 26 points to lead the second-seeded Lynx to a 65-49 win over the third-seeded Blazers in Friday night's New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Women's Basketball Tournament semifinal at Mitchell College.

The Lynx (16-10) advanced to Saturday's 2:00 p.m. championship game to face No. 4 Daniel Webster, which upset top-seeded Mitchell in Friday night's other semifinal.

Elms College (15-12) finished with its second-highest win total in the program's 29-year history.

The Blazers were limited to 24.0-percent shooting (6 for 25) in the opening half as the Lynx built a 35-18 lead at intermission.

Freshman guard Katie Condon (Sandy Hook, CT) finished with 10 points as the only other player to reach double figures for the Blazers, who were outscored 32-18 in the paint.
