All-NECC Women's Basketball Announced

THREE ELMS COLLEGE WOMEN'S BASKETBALL
PLAYERS NAMED ALL-NECC

CHICOPEE, MA, March 1, 2009 - The New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) recently announced its 2009 Women's Basketball All-Conference Team and Elms College had three players honored.

Junior forward Amanda Brogna (Oxford, MA) was named First Team All-NECC, as she finished the regular season fourth in the conference in scoring (17.4 ppg) and second in rebounding (11.3 rpg).

Brogna, who registered a collegiate career-best 15 double-doubles this season, was named NECC Player of the Week four times this season, and was named ECAC Division III New England Player of the Week on January 27.

Senior forward Paige Schneider (Windsor, CT), a four-year player, was named Second Team All-NECC, as she averaged 9.1 points and 7.5 rebounds during the regular season. Schneider  was named NECC Player of the Week on February 16 after recording a collegiate career-high 20 rebounds in a late-season win over Bay Path. With that record-setting game on the boards, Schneider became just the fourth player in the program's 29-year history to haul in 20 or more boards in a game.

Freshman point guard Carolyn Talmadge (Wilbraham, MA) rounded out the list of Elms College postseason award winners, as she was named Honorable Mention All-NECC.

Talmadge, who was named NECC Rookie of the Week three times this season, averaged 9.3 points, 4.3 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 1.5 steals in 27 starts at the point.
