CHICOPEE, MA, Dec. 6, 2007 - Elms College sophomore forward Amanda Brogna (Oxford, MA) recorded a double-double with 16 points and 14 rebounds as the Blazers rallied from a four-point halftime deficit to post a convincing 66-49 win over St. Joseph College (CT) in Thursday night's non-conference women's basketball game at the Maguire Center.

Elms College won its second straight game to improve to 3-4 overall, while St. Joseph lost its second game in as many nights to fall to 2-5.

The Blazers trailed 32-28 at intermission before erupting for a 29-8 run over the first 12:57 of the second half to put the game out of reach.

Brogna registered her first double-double of the season on 7 of 16 shooting from the field in 31 minutes.

Freshman Justine Tokas (Enfield, CT) kept the Blazers within striking distance in the first half, as she scored 11 of her collegiate career-high 12 points in the opening 20 minutes.

Elms College outscored St. Joseph 38-18 in the paint and limited the Blue Jays to just 19.4-percent shooting (6 of 31) in the second half.

Freshman guard Illaria Schiano (Wallingford, CT) poured in a game-high 20 points on 7 of 18 shooting to register her second 20-plus point outing in as many nights. She finished with 24 points in St. Joseph's loss at Mitchell College on Wednesday night.

Elms College opens up North Atlantic Conference (NAC) play when it hosts Wheelock College on Saturday, December 8 at the Maguire Center. Tip-off is slated for 3:00 p.m.
