WOMEN'S BASKETBALL FALLS TO JOHNSON STATE, 63-46

CHICOPEE, MA, Jan. 11, 2008 - Elms College junior forward Paige Schneider (Windsor, CT) registered a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds, but Johnson State received a game-high 29-point effort from junior guard Jenna Lewis (Middlebury, VT) to help the Badgers post a 63-46 win over the Blazers in Friday night's North Atlantic Conference (NAC) women's basketball game at the Maguire Center.

With the win, Johnson State improved to 5-5 overall, 1-0 NAC. Elms College fell to 4-6, 1-1 NAC.

Sophomore center Claudia Martineau (Washington, VT) added a double-double with 17 points and 11 rebounds for the Badgers, who limited the Blazers to five first half field goals to take a 27-16 lead at intermission.

Johnson State outscored Elms College 22-16 in the paint, 19-14 off turnovers and 18-8 off second chance opportunities.

Elms College returns to conference play when it hosts Castleton State College on Saturday, January 12. Game time is 4:00 p.m. at the Maguire Center.
