CHICOPEE, MA, Feb. 2, 2008 - Elms College sophomore forward Amanda Brogna (Oxford, MA) poured in a collegiate career-high 20 points and the Blazers overcame an eight-point deficit in the second half to earn a 63-60 win over Husson College in Saturday's North Atlantic Conference (NAC) women's basketball game at the Maguire Center.

The win, which was Elms College's first in five all-time meetings against Husson, improved the Blazers to 7-12 overall, 4-5 NAC.

The Eagles lost for just the second time in their last nine games and fell to 10-8, 6-2 NAC.

Junior guard Michelle Barden's (St. Albans, ME) 3-pointer with 6:23 remaining in regulation gave Husson its largest lead of the game at 57-49.

The Blazers knotted the game at 57-57 with an 8-0 run over the next 3:20 sparked by a pair of free throws and a layup by sophomore guard Annie Dunnack (Mansfield Center, CT), a pair of free throws by senior guard Michelle Fernandes (Danbury, CT) and a layup by junior forward Shauna Sullivan (Chicopee, MA).

Sophomore forward Ashley Bragdon (Newport, ME) answered for the Eagles with a free throw and layup over the next 98 seconds to give Husson a 60-57 lead with 1:25 remaining.

Brogna pulled the Blazers to within 60-59 following a layup with 45 seconds left.

Elms College then got a defensive stop on Husson's next possession and Dunnack followed with a layup on the ensuing possession to give the Blazers a 61-60 lead.

Elms College's defense once again came up with a stop on Husson's next possession, as Sullivan hauled in a clutch rebound and sank a pair of free throws in the closing seconds to seal the victory.

In all, the game featured a total of 10 ties and 17 lead changes.

Husson held a 19-5 advantage in points off turnovers, but Elms College outscored Husson 28-16 in the paint.

Dunnack finished with a season-high 12 points and three assists, while sophomore guard Ally Wanat (West Springfield, MA) added nine points - all on 3-pointers - in the winning effort.

Husson junior guard Laura Archer (Ellsworth, ME) netted a team-high 16 points, including 4 of 7 shooting from 3-point range.

Junior guard Shelby Bradford (Lee, ME), who scored 30 points for the Eagles in Friday night's win at Becker, was held to 13 points, and freshman guard Bethany Sevey (Skowhegan, ME) added 11 points for Husson in the loss.

Elms College returns to conference play when it travels to Becker College on Saturday, February 9. Tip-off is 1:00 p.m.
